What does it mean to be saved?

What does it mean to be saved?

Heaven is a glorious place. There is no pain or sorrow, Jesus wipes away all of our tears, there is true joy and satisfaction, and best of all, we dwell in the presence of a wonderful King for all eternity. There is only one problem, Heaven is a holy place. There is absolutely no sin or darkness.

Some people mistakenly think that all roads lead to heaven. You just need to be a generally good person and you will make it to the pearly gates. However, in the record that God left us, the Bible, He clearly explains that only those without any sin will make it to heaven. That means that if we have sinned just once, we are disqualified from heaven. It doesn’t matter how “good” we have been in life. It is impossible for us to qualify for heaven because we are all sinners.

But God knew that sin would enter the world and corrupt mankind, so He made a decision. He would give up His only Son to be a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus lived a holy and perfect life, fulfilling the requirements of heaven, and then took our sins upon Himself on the cross. His sacrifice can wipe our sins away so that we too can make heaven our eternal dwelling place.

“What must I do to be saved?” That is the question people have been asking for centuries. The answer is found in Jesus. He said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). If we will call upon the name of Jesus and proclaim Him our Lord and Savior, renounce our old path of sin, and follow Jesus then we can have the assurance that our eternity will be with Him in Heaven.

Wouldn’t you like to have your name written in the Lamb’s book of life? If you have never acknowledged the Lord as your Savior please pray this simple prayer with me:

Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. Set me free through Your sacrifice. I want to live in your presence for all eternity. Please fill me with your joy, peace, and righteousness. I receive You now as my Lord and Savior. Amen!

Friend, if you have prayed this prayer I want to encourage you to do a few things:

  • Don’t be a secret Christian. Tells others about Jesus
  • Find a good Bible-based church
  • Read the Bible every day
  • Pray every day
  • Make your life’s goal to continue on the pathway of Christ’s righteousness

If you have prayed this prayer please send me a note at churchofmtzion@gmail.com. I would love to hear from you.

God bless,
Pastor Daniel
